The Family Intervention Specialist will work closely with youth and families referred by DCP&P and provide evidence-based interventions within the home and/or community based on the Youth Villages Intercept model – this includes conducting assessments to determine needs and strengths of the family and youth; safety evaluation; service planning; service coordination; and on-going sessions. Some client transportation is needed with company car.
Provide services to people ages 17-22 who are transitioning out of resource home/foster care, or are already living independently, and need individualized skill development and support to transition successfully into adulthood. Skill development may include obtaining and maintaining safe and suitable housing, continuing their education, learning independent living skills, obtaining and maintaining employment, building a support system, and remaining free from legal involvement.
Works as part of a multi-disciplinary team grounded in the housing first approach and coupled with an integrated service model to assist families in obtaining and retaining housing in Hunterdon, Mercer, Somerset and Warren Counties. Provides in-home counseling to CP&P referred families.
Evaluation of caregivers involved with child protective services to determine their capacity and functional ability to safely care for minor children by clinical interviews, administration, scoring and interpretation of psychometrics. Synthesize results to determine parenting strengths and risks with appropriate intervention recommendations.

The Family Preservation Services Supervisor oversees DCP&P contracted intensive in-home counseling program in Somerset County. The FPS supervisor is responsible for the day to day and clinical operation of FPS including staff supervision record review, directing staff, keen crisis management skills, supporting the clinical needs of the program.
