    The NJ Department of Health through the City of New Brunswick is offering COVID-19 testing at Catholic Charities, Diocese of Metuchen’s Unity Square at 81 Remsen Avenue in New Brunswick.  The testing will be offered on Tuesdays throughout December from 10AM to 2PM and will be free of charge.  Those wishing to obtain a rapid test are advised to refrain from eating or drinking within 30 minutes of testing.  Insurance is requested but not required.

    Catholic Charities, Diocese of Metuchen’s Program of Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) Teams delivered holiday meals to their consumers in New Brunswick, Perth Amboy and East Brunswick, NJ, just in time for Thanksgiving. Catholic Charities’ Staff members Rose Bohar, Team Leader and Elizabeth Paz, PACT Secretary, carefully prepare meals for delivery to East Brunswick PACT consumers in accordance with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines. The Catholic Charities’ PACT program is guided by the principal that individuals with mental illness, even those with the most impaired functioning, can reside in normal settings in the community if adequate supports and services are provided.

    Students from the World Language Honor Societies from Mount Saint Mary Academy in Watchung recently hosted a diaper drive to benefit Catholic Charities, Diocese of Metuchen’s New Brunswick childcare programs and Unity Square Neighborhood.   Senior students from the Mount Language Honor Societies used their talents to create a video (https://vimeo.com/473424318 ) to promote the diaper drive.  The drive was extended due to the large response from Mt Saint Mary Academy families.

Mielke, Assistant Commissioner, Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services, for its Agency’s work in the New Jersey Evidence-Based Practice Initiative: Opioid and other Substance Use Disorders; specifically in completing the initiative necessary to implement and sustain the evidence-based practices of Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
